Just to clarify what the Global Assistance Arrangement is supposed to be - at one time congregations insured their own Halls and contents. At some point the WTS muscled in on it with the GAA and effectively forced all congregations to use it. Of course, in practice no congregation has ever made a claim as far as I'm aware, they just have to take care of repairs themselves. So in reality this is just another money making scheme.

notice there are nearly 75 seats (5 rows) reserved for the occasion.
by my count...it looks like between 17 to 19 were baptized...with total attendance of 6,000. the youngest among them looks like between 9 and 11 years old.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet. I'm not certain it has been official policy, but the practice is to also write disfellowshipped addresses on territory cards. Many are probably quite happy to never be called on, but it is now their decision.

A hairdresser is cutting a young man's hair and asks him what he does. He tells her he sets up food banks to help the poor. She decides not to charge him.
The next morning when she gets to work there is a bunch of flowers and a thank you note from him.
Later, another young man comes in. She asks him what he does and he tells her he helps the homeless. She decides not to charge him.

Why the BIG 4.5 day elder "school"?
by eyeuse2badub injust wonderin' if anyone has heard of anything about something big going down in the borg?
good friend of mine just told me today that he will be attending a 4.5 day elder "training school" all nest week!
the "special" elder "schools" are usually only 2-3 days.. lots of dumbing down coming?.

I think what is happening is that the two different "schools" for elders are being confused here.
Every 3 years roughly there is a Kingdom Ministry Scool lasting about 2 days which takes place evrywhere at about the same time. It covers sttuff from the elders book, letters from the society and does indeed contain many videos these days. I think the next of these is at the end of this year.
There is also a "school" for congregation elders which is more like a pioneer school. Over several years the programme is delivered around the world to about 30 at a time. It lasts a full week, though I think it ends on friday lunchtime. It is supposed to be about building up and encouraging elders and training them to be better speakers. There is a lot of question and answer (KMS is mostly talks).but probably videos these days as well.

RBC... something I heard this weekend and I want to confirm
by StarTrekAngel ini have not been around much or even cared to dig into jw land.
i been working on moving to a new place and leaving behind my old jw past, even the neighborhood where it all happened.. but something i heard this weekend had me thinking.
my mother in law has a small, run down wooden home near the kh where we used to attend.

That sounds exactly right. The same thing has happened in my area with a renovation. And yes, they aren't requests, they are demands. There is also a regular announcement about how much has been donated towards the cost of the renovation to guilt trip everyone.

I like to ask jws about Matt 28:19,20. Do those verses apply to individuals or to an organisation? THey will think then say to individuals. Then I ask how many people they have personally baptised.
